The Ofi Press Magazine

International Poetry and Literature from Mexico City

Magazine Submission Guidelines
Thank you for considering sending your work to us at The Ofi Press. We appreciate your interest very much! Please read these guidelines carefully before submitting (updated 06-01-23).
We are now open for submissions

Every six months we publish a selection of poetry, short stories, as well as non-fiction, interviews and reviews. Please only send previously unpublished work.

We do not accept simultaneous submissions.

We publish high quality work from writers of all nationalities and backgrounds. We are also particularly interested in submissions from Latin American and Mexican writers.

We are now publishing our editions at Calameo: http://en.calameo.com/accounts/4739059

What We Are Looking For

Poems: All quality poems will be considered. We are however very unlikely to publish haikus.

Short stories: Right now we are considering stories of under 1500 words on any theme.

Translations:  We are accepting translations of poetry and fiction from around the world. Please make sure that you have written permission from the author to publish their work before sending it to us.

All submissions should include a short third-person biography of no more than fifty words and a short cover letter. Please submit no more than 6 poems or 2 short stories in your submission in a single attached word document.

Please note that we are unable to remove work from our archives once it has been published with us. Also, once we have informed you that we would like to publish your work, we respectfully ask that you do not send us edited or "improved" versions of the same piece later on. Please take these points into consideration before sending us your work.

To get an idea of what we're looking for, please check out our current edition and archives. Thank you!
Response Time

Please allow up to three months to hear a response as to whether or not your work has been accepted for publication with us. Due to the high volume of submissions that we now receive, at busy periods, the response time could be a little longer.  If you do not hear from us within four months it is likely that your email was hijacked so please resend it with a note and we will be sure to get back to you as soon as possible.

Payment

Currently we are not able to pay you for your work but we hope to be able to rectify this in the future. This is a good opportunity for you to get publishing credit with an editorial that has a growing reputation for quality international poetry and literature.

We pride ourselves on being more that just a magazine and once you have had work published with us you become part of the Ofi community. We always try to help Ofi writers in the promotion of their literary projects through our Facebook and Twitter feeds. We are always open to other ideas for collaboration too!

Rights

We will acquire first time publishing rights, and all the other rights will revert back to the author or poet once published on our website. The Ofi Press would be honoured to be acknowledged if you go on to publish your work elsewhere or in a book, after publishing it with us. All works remain on our website or in our archive.

Submit

Please send your work for consideration to Jack Little at: theofipress@mail.com

We are looking forward very much to hearing from you!
