Piano Fingers
My mother held up her hands, stiffly
The piano teacher always said I had the fingers
Her bully aunt had the lessons, paid for by a train engineer
Had exchanged one leg for facility with the throaty tool of song
A bargain, my mother implied, at least for one with the fingers, the eager reach |
