Don't Take Me By the Sea

By Ernest Williamson II, USA (Published in Issue 1)

don't take me by the sea
I want to burn by the birch of the forgotten songs
Apollo playing the lyre while
Dionysus pouring red wine
from the tops of cirrus clouds
as the murmuring of the bumble bees by your feet
challenges the academically trained musician's notion
of rhythm
be a bonfire
enraptured by the chance to live
in lieu of unceasing realities of unconsciousness
and don't take me by the sea
take me by the hand
